Additional Context: As reported by the Catholic Relief Services (CRS) in May 2025, 11 out of 13 programs under the McGovern-Dole Food for Education school feeding programs were terminated. CRS has implemented programs under the Food for Education effort for decades. According to CRS, these programs also contribute to the U.S. economy by utilizing in-kind food aid, benefiting American farmers, port workers, mariners and others.
