Additional Context: Humanity & Inclusion, or HI, had 20 of its 32 U.S.-funded projects, with a total value of $48 million, terminated in early 2025. Two additional programs were terminated over the course of the year, while others concluded without the opportunity for follow-on awards. As of May 2026, only three U.S.-funded projects remain active in their portfolio. Although most staffing cuts followed the sudden termination of USAID and State Department grants — which ended mobile clinics, prosthetics fitting and delivery, rehabilitation services, livelihoods activities, and mental health and psychosocial support worldwide — EU donor cuts may compound these losses further in 2026.
