Additional Context: This information was reported by an implementing organization to the International Campaign to Ban Landmines, or ICBL, in a survey from late 2025. Results were published anonymously.

ICBL claims the U.S. was a strong supporter of gender-sensitive and inclusive approaches for mine action activities, including requiring activities to promote staffing diversity. However, in line with new restrictions from the expanded Mexico City Policy, some organizations reported receiving new U.S. government requirements to restrict gender-related activities in order to reinstate funds.

Devex Researcher Note: Policies such as these were part of a nationwide effort undertaken by international organizations to train and retain female staff in line with national commitments to "gender mainstreaming in mine action." By late 2024, 23% of staff in the sector were women, a transition promoted through financial and logistical support for childcare, the inclusion of women in leadership positions, religiously-sensitive human resource policies, and education and outreach activities.
