Additional Context: Mavambo Orphan Care has received USAID funding since 2003 for its work supporting children impacted by HIV and AIDS. The terminated project resulted in the loss of $3.7 million in 2025, representing 80% of the organization’s total income. The program involved community-based activities to screen vulnerable children and orphans for HIV, to treat and support those who tested positive, and to help children whose parents live with HIV.
