Policy Lens: Security & Resilience

Entry Type: Human Impact

Additional Context: Humanity & Inclusion, or HI, had 19 of its 32 U.S.-funded grants terminated by April 2025. According to ICBL, the effects of these terminations have been acutely felt in the landmine action field, with demining, risk education, victim rehabilitation, legal support, and job market integration projects being discontinued.

Devex Researcher Note: Initial comments by the organization mentioned that these grant terminations affected about 100 partners supporting around 300,000 people with disabilities worldwide. $20 million in critical funding for HI programs was lost. In March 2026, HI warned that projects supporting people with disabilities would have to be significantly cut in Kenya and Nepal, with demining projects in Laos, Cambodia, Senegal, and Iraq having been fully terminated following mine action funding cuts.
