Additional Context: Estimates from the international NGO MSI Reproductive Choices show that foreign aid cuts may result in 40 to 55 million additional unintended pregnancies between 2025 and 2030, with the DRC being one of the most highly affected contexts.

Devex Researcher Note: A study from 2015 found that external donors bore 85% of the costs of contraceptive procurement in the DRC, with households shouldering the remaining 15%. While the government briefly contributed between 2020 and 2022, its contributions were negligible by the time U.S. foreign aid cuts hit.
