Additional Context: This information is based on 150 semi-structured interviews conducted by One Earth Partners across five countries selected to represent the diversity of USAID's environmental work. Interview findings were triangulated with a global survey of 175 respondents and external media analysis.

Two organizations from Kenya reported these figures, while six others noted significant staffing and pay cuts. According to One Earth Partners, respondents from around the globe report having to downsize their organizations to survive the immediate financial shock of U.S. aid cuts. Apart from impacts to organizations themselves, they note ongoing 'brain drain' as highly trained environmental professionals are forced to leave the sector entirely to secure an income.
