"Since 2023, our area has been under siege and blackout. Some families lost their children and breadwinners to hunger. Others were forced to eat grass and tree leaves to survive, which led to poisoning and death—especially among children." — A community member in Kadugli, South Kordofan State, Sudan.

Additional Context: The Cash Consortium of Sudan (CCS), led by Mercy Corps in partnership with 8 international and 12 national organizations, provided direct cash assistance to help families in conflict-affected areas meet their basic needs. Funded by ECHO, BHA, and FCDO, CCS focuses on the hardest-hit areas of Sudan, where people are facing extreme hunger. The suspension of BHA funding, which made up 57% of the Cash Consortium of Sudan’s (CCS) budget, has forced an immediate halt to critical cash assistance programs, cutting off lifelines for hundreds of thousands of people. The program was terminated.
