Policy Lens: Security & Resilience

Entry Type: Operational Impact

Additional Context: The fixed-wing service connected passengers weekly between Abuja, Maiduguri, and Yola. Through a standby contract, UNHAS can still arrange access to fixed-wing aircraft within 48 hours for flight charters, security, and other operational flight requests to remote locations across the northeast. According to the WFP, effective September 2025, UNHAS has committed its limited available resources to maintain rotary-wing flights and helicopter services to 11 deep-field locations.

Researcher Note: As of January 2026, the UNHAS X (formerly Twitter) account has posted information regarding a humanitarian flight in Nigeria.
