Additional Context: The International McGovern-Dole Food for Education and Child Nutrition Program, funded by the US Department of Agriculture, provided school meals to over 75,000 children from 450 schools in the form of U.S. commodities (fortified flour, rice, sunflower seed oil, and lentils, yellow split peas) and also supported literacy activities. The program also increased knowledge on nutrition, health, and hygiene practices for cooks, parents, and school officials.

The program was terminated.
