With the termination of a USAID project in Bangladesh that facilitated community support and engagement with over 1,300 local clinics, nearly 4 million people will lose access to health care liaison services.

Topic: Health
Policy Lens: Global Health Security
Additional Context: Community clinics are an entry point for accessing basic health services in Bangladesh. These clinics were designed by the government to make healthcare accessible to rural households. However, due to a lack of understanding and trust, the majority of 1,300+ community clinics in the country failed to reach those in need. This was exacerbated by coordination gaps among the Directorate General of Family Planning, Directorate General of Health Services, and the communities. This program funded by USAID aimed to address these missing linkages by training communities and building trust. With funding cuts, trust is expected to immediately erode.
